1/72 Altar Maket Türk T-26 Hafif Tank / Turkish T-26 Light Tank

Altar Maket'in ilk AFV kiti.

Kitle ilgili bilgi ve sipariş için:

Sayın Abdullah Turhal'ın sözleri ile model hakkında bilgiler:

Merhaba,

Altar olarak açtığım projenin ismi: 'T-26 B tank model kit and history book'.

"T-26 tanks in the Turkish Army"

Project summary:

Project for production of 1/72 scale Soviet made T-26 B type tank model kit and accompanying comprehensive research book on its use in the Turkish Army in 1930's.

About Altar

“Altar: Military History Studies, Models, Miniature Figures & Wargames” now works in full capacity to promote modelling in Turkey and use quality models to help develop a consciousness of history while trying to fill the gap about Turkey related products in the world of modelling. Altar’s activities are based on three main pillars and all work develop and run on these three pillars: Books, Miniatures, Wargames.

Historical significance of T-26 tanks:

The period between the end of the First World War (1918) and the beginning of the Second World War (1939), major countries in the world accelarated their efforts of modernising their armies and armament race was going full speed. European powers including fastly growing Germany and Italy caused concern in 1930's. Turkey, after successfully waging an Independence War against major powers in 1920's was concerned about this arms race and particularly perceived threat from the expansionist Italy under Mussolini. Mussolini's tanks "earned him an empire in Africa" was the main belief in Ankara in those years after Italian army with its tanks crashed Ethiopian forces in 1930's. Concerned with these developments Turrkey sought ways to strengthen its army with tanks. However, this was a major task with many difficulties. The balance and political situation in Europe made it impossible to obtain these from others. With a careful and tactful diplomacy, Turkey turned to Soviet Union and after good negoatiations, Turkey secured a deal for T-26 tanks.
In 1934 Turkey bought 64 T-26 tanks and 43 BA-8 armored cars from Soviet Union. First combat unit of Turkey was established in the Thrace in 1935. A major demonstration was organised in 1937 under direct control of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. Thus, Turkey achieved a must have deterrence element in its already feared infantry forces. Together with tanks and armored cars, any expansionist plan against Turkey had been scrapped. The New Republic elevated its image and regarded as a diffucult country to attack. In the coming disastrous Second World War years, Turkey remained neutral and no clash occurred on Turkish soil during that devastative years in Europe.

Your contribution

With your contribution, Altar will be able to produce, that is to say cast copies of  1/72 resin T-26 tank models and fund the printing of the research of 2 years as a colorful book packed with original data, photos and plans.

Current status of the model and the book

Research, production of the master of the model and research and obtaining of all material for the research is complete. The amount we try to raise here will be used for production of the tank model, its box and information leaflet and printing of the extensive book on our research.

Altar's achievements, our track record of success

Altar is the first and still only Turkish company to produce model figures in world standards. Number of unique figures in Altar line is now 13 and another one is going to be added shortly.
Books by Altar received an enthusiastic welcome. Altar’s book on introduction to modelling is one of the pioneers of such a book in Turkish language, available to Turkish modellers with colour pictures, tips and necessary first information to enable them to have tools to begin this hobby. Other original research, usually based on Turkish history turned into successful titles in the last decade. In 2011 book on long forgotten Ottoman cavalry unit delis and the book on the battle of Ankara in 1402 achieved success and received good criticisms. The first ever translation of H. G. Wells’ 1913 masterpiece Little Wars received a similar enthusiastic welcome from Turkish readers. Turhal’s articles are printed in Turkey’s most selling history journal as well and all contribute enormously to the promotion of modelling, miniature figures and wargames.
